DILLICIOUS @ KARAMA

Whats the capital of India?

Everyones knows its New Delhi and when I tell you New delhi is situated in the heart of Karama, Dubai.

Would anyone believe me?

That's right one can find now Delhi in Dubai as well. Located at the heart of Karama where one can find all kind of cuisines. Threshold for North Indian cuisines definitely best location spot on. North Indians love their Herbivorous food seriously. No where in the world can one see a variety of Vegan dishes be it in curries, snacks, chaats and kebabs, but none other then in the Capital of India. We Indians are well known for some of our outstanding Vegan Menu that are spicy yet relishing to bites. Play with Vegetables into any fritters or curries or blend it with spices Capital of India has got lots of tricks under their sleeves. Dillicious can be broken down into Delhi/Dilliwalla and Yummylicious. Brand name keeps up with the peppiness of delicious food served and Licious locks in for the way food are presented in attractivness. Interiors are traditional but modern Delhi feel with the painitings of famous landmarks of Delhi. One of the main attractions in the interiors was the Big Delhi TATA bus parked inside, at the front of the bus were the Traditional Indian hand woven furniture made of wood and Jute known as 'Chaarpayi' with textured and hand embroidery woven cushions, that gives the Dhaba wala look and feel. These Chaarpayi's are used for cozy sitting or just sit and eat during olden times in India. Ceilings had round lights that were in different colours of wheels. At the entrance, on left and right side have mini sculptures of Delhi beauty. Chaarpayi's outlook is carried on with the rest of the seating arrangements but made with heavy dute plastic and woooden frames. Every minute details are well taken care off. There is also Open Kitchen cooking which can be peeped through the glass for hygiene purposes. Signboards for Restroom were RINSE YOUR SINS AND THINKING CHAMBER logos. There were also lots of filmy posters dating back to 80's and 90's hung and wallpapers of Gold and Shimmer adorned.

After being seated were served with their complimentary Papads and papad puris with spicy condiments along with mint chutney and tamarind chutney. These chutneys came in cute small glasses with the paintings of colorful auto rickshaws. Papads rolled into cones are the normal papads eaten alongwith rice but these were good to eat with chutneys. Puri papads which were flat topped with diced onions and cucumbers drizzled with yogurt and tamarind chutneys gave cooling effect.

**HAVE TASTED BOTH VEGAN AND NON-VEGAN **

MOCK THAARA & THANDA GARAM ( MOCK TAILS & DRINKS)

Apple and Mixed Juice - Ordered by the kids but i loved them more. Its hard to get fresh apple juices in almost all restaurants that I have visited so far except in Juice shops. So was definitely delighted when it was served and also the fact it was freshly squeezed made it even more refreshing. Mixed juice had more of a watermelon flavour but not sure whether other fruit juices were in there but whatever it was also refreshing. One thing to be noted is that when the juices are not good enough I tend to go on for water but these juices made me hardly switch to water throughout the entire set of course meal.

Strawberry Mojito - Mojitos are usually SODA/SPARKLING WATER as their base. With other flavours added in to get the refreshing effect. Strawberry and Lime juices were added in these and yes these have to be sweet and trust me they were so good as all were balanced very well. The trick for me is that Soda should not overpower as the rest of the flavors is not tasted after that so BALANCING is the key factor. Most of the Mojitos have tasted were sour which i just hated.

SOUP

GOSHT KDI MIRCH - Mutton soup simmered in Indian spices drizzled on top with lime juice, crushed black pepper and mint. One of the best rich mutton soup I ever had. This in itself is so whole some with all the right notes working in there. Highly recommend this soup as Winter is coming and Stamina ka Soup hain yain.

CHATKARI (CHAAT STOP)

POPEYE PAAJI KA FAVOURITE CHAAT - Spinach fried mixed in gram flour, corn pickle drizzled in yoghurt, mint and tamarind chutney. Crispiness of the spinach is sharp and goes so well with the main chaat flaovurs. Chaat was served in an Umbrella that took me to Pyar Hua Ikrar Hua song Of SHree 420 (1955). Loved the presentation which had an upper deck of diced onions in a small bowl. Delhites love onions and green chilies.

PANI POORI - Dilli wala Gol gappa served in ferris wheel with testube spicy mint water. 5 wheels wherein 3 wheels consisted of 2 hollow pooris each and in the 4th wheel was the tamarind chutney and in the 5th wheel was the chick peas, onion and potatoes (chaat masala). Marvelous sight as well quantity was super good for a crazy gol gappa fan.

STARTERS

KARARA BHATTI (PANEER TIKKA) - Crispy marinated Paneer (cottage cheese) with breadcrumbs grilled in bhatti (kadai pan/pot). These are tossed in onions, tomatoes, capsicum and frehs herbs. For my love of paneer i ordered and also anything in crispy form is always my favourite. Its not easy to get the crispiness but once got its out of the world to crunch and chew.

since

KEBABS

KUKKAD WINGS - Chicken wings marinated in a yoghurt base with exotic spices and preserved overnight. Grilled to perfection with all the succulent juicy spices oozing in one bite, nothing can go wrong after this. Since its my kids favourite and they loved it every bite and they finished it off altogether. Served in sizzler too so can eat hot or when warm.

MURGH ALSOONI KEBAB - Chunks of chicken coated with egg yolk and mildly flavoured with white pepper and saffaron. These are then cooked in charcoal. It was presented in a mettalic jar vessel with chicken skewers of 3. Tasted yum and also the chicken were tenderly cooked and so softly melted in the mouth.

TANDOORI JHEENGA - Prawns preserved overnight with yohurt base and exotic spices. These are char grilled and the prawns were pretty huge which made it all worthwhile to munch. Seafood lover heaven which are not that spicy yet bursting with flavours. These were served again in a izzler pan either have it hot or warm which compliments with the mint chutney.

MAIN COURSE

B.C - Classic Butter Chicken - ButteR chicken needs no introduction. Its a family favourite just because its one of the non spiciest curries yet rich in dairy and butter products. Base is totalluy tomato gravy and chicken thats marinated overnight with tandoori spices. This gravy compliments with the naan. Personally this gravy sets in my profound love for Delhi curries. Outstanding and LaJawab wala curry sered in a warm pot surrounded by a lot of green veggies like cucumber and lettuces.

VEGETABLE KOLHAPURI - Assortment of fresh green veggies in a hot and spicy gravy tempered with curry leaves and crust pappads. Yeah i did not get that of a spicy flavour in the curry, it was more sweet. But yet the gravy was tremendously delicious with all the peppy veggies. Can give kiddies if they are not too much into spicy category.

BANJARA GOSHT - Meat curry with garlic, cloves, whole condiments and red onion cooked in a slow fire. Yes and this was definitely the STAR. All the spices were marinated with slow cooking process that mutton chunks with bones were cooked to perfection (not too soft and not too rubbery). Loved thethick curry spices bombed with all the flavours in there. These were served in medium sized jar vessels but yet keeping it warm under the vessel.

PUNJABI LOVE (DESSERTS)

PISTA SHAHI KULFI - Milk based desserts are my favourites. Kulfi is more of a cream based texture and dense. Love that base itself and am happy Dillicious served the best kulfi. All he flovours of pistawas not overpowering and neither the milky cream. topped with sliced lmonds nothing can go wrong.

RASMALAI - Cottage cheese soaked in rich thick cream flavoured with cardamom and Saffron. More of a cold dessert served here but i prefer it warm nonetheless its all worth it. Any Northi Mithais has to have saffaron its the key ingredient and milk.

LOVE - The quantities of each of the dish in the menu were humongous which can be shared 2 or 3 people. Dilli wala ka heart bahut hi baddaa hain. Being a Gastro girl loved how each of the victuals were presented superb and yet the quantity was huge. Every food that i tasted were bombed with Delishness. Loved how the names of the menu were genuine to the culinary strength of gourmet cities like Amritsar, Patiala, Lahore, Peshwar, Lucknow and Old Delhi. Prsented as well in that way.

LOATHE - Packaging is a big zero as whatever i have oredered i tell them to parcel when the quantity is lots or here i ordered too much. Wish they give more importance to how it is parceled out. I guess nobody takes parcel as the food will be finished from there itself . The lid of all the packaging was the problem which was not sealed well.
