Everyone who resides in Dubai knows World Trade center. During the 80's or 90's when there were hardly any developments but only sandy views while driving through the long hours to reach Dubai, the only landmark to know one has reached Dubai is the World Trade Center. Even though Dubai has evolved a lot in the construction and property categories, World Trade Center has evolved into Business hub center where all kinds and types of Tall-Rise Buildings can be found here. World Trade Center is the Times Square in New York. Also evolved is the food hub in this area. Yes, this is one area where all 5-star restaurants and roof top dining in options available be it Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Indian cuisines.
Earlier it was hard to find Fast Food outlets with a healthier version, but Wok Boyz changed all that. Located at in the Heart of Dubai, right opposite of Crescent Moon Tower is the right place to munch the Wokie Noodles and Appetizers while the Winter weather sets in. Homiez style live cooking, Cozy and comfy sitting area with Warm Asian Street food, What can Possibly go wrong here while Westlife music is the Background score? These are what attracted me on a very personal note. 90's kids are going to love this funky area with the most Instagrammable Wall of Dubai city. Artist who did this huge painiting desreves a lot of accolades as he/she had captured Dubai city life with the Asian fusion twist. Trust me while I was muching in the noodles I was admiring the Wall painting. Buzzing area in Sheikh Zayed Road is the Wok Boyz which also gives a picture perfect view of the Burj Khalifa as well.
SOUP
TOM YUM SOUP (VEG) - In Dubai, its hard to find a good Tom Yum Soup, which is really defines the best healthiest soup I love the most. Herbal with all distinctive flavours that with one sip soothes when one is ill and do not have appetite for heavy food (personal experience). Soup is not that spicy but subtle. Though it has fish sauce (prawn version) added but the over powering smell and taste is the Lemon grass.
APPETIZERS/ STARTERS
Veg Spring Rolls - Lip-smacking flavours at the very first bite. Filling was a BOMB, crunchy and healthiest. I dont know but I did not feel i was having a veg spring roll as it was popping with authentic Thai flavours. Sauce that came along was the Sweet and Sour sauce that were Divine.
Prawn Tempura - Prawns used were fresh and medium sized ones. Had a lot of prawn tempuras in dubai but i definitely loved Wok Boy Tempura. Batter was done was done so right with thin layer coating done on the prawns. Chilli and Soy Sauce to be dipped had subtle soy which i was happy it was not over powering. Sauce measurements were so correctly done.
Spicy Korean Wings - Star of the Show was this Appetizer. Wings tossed in a lot of flavours dont compliment well. But when these wings are tossed in Asian sauces it does the trick. Another note is the wings should not be deep fried which sucks. Wings are best when its baked where all marination are oozing and tossed into the sauces does the Trick. Exactly what i got from Wok Boyz. Spicy Korean sauce was too good which my kids loved. Family Favourite.
WOKIE BOYZIE NOODLES (MAIN)
Here the process goes like this :
1) Choose the Wok Base [ type of noodles, rice, Quinoa (healthy) or Mixed Vegetables]
2) Choose Proteins (chicken, beef, prawns, Sausage or Tofu)
3) Choose Vegetables ( Broccoli, Pineapple, Baby corn, Sweet corn, Carrots, Mushrooms, Etc )
4) Choose Sauce to be tossed in
5) Choose what to be topped up with ( extra kick in )
Soba Noodles - Here I chose my base as Soba noodles which was pretty new to be as it was in grey color noodles and thin Japanese Noodles. Chose prawns as proteins with mixed peppers and corn as my veggies tossed in Wok Boyz Special Sauce ( Chilli Basil suace tossed in garlic ). Topped it up with peanuts for the enhanced kick in palate. Oh Boy relish to dig in.
Egg Noodles - Round Chinese Noodles as my base tossed in beef slices and mixed up with Mixed peppers and pineapple. Chose Ganganam style sauce which was Korean mildly spicy and sweet topped up with peanurs. This was family favourite as it had the correct texture, beef was cooked well and sauce was very peppy.
Udon Noodles - Thick wheat flour noodles added in chicken as proteins. Mixed with carrots and Sweet corn tossed in Japanese sizzle (teriyaki sweet soy sauce) and topped with corriander. This sauce isvery good for kids who generally does not like spiced up food. But for adults its good to have when appetite is very low just to add in lots of energy and who also does not like complicated sauces.
DRINKS
Coconut Water - To freshen and for thirst quench best drink is the Coconut water. Fresh and not very sweet goes well along with the wokie menu.
